What is a containerised generator set?
On a regular basis, containerised generator sets (CGS) are placed on board ships to provide replacement power in case of a damage to one of the ship's generator sets, or additional power, e.g. to provide power to extra deck equipment or reefer containers. There are currently no clear rules and requirements for such time limited installations.
Is permanent installation of containerised generator sets covered by this guideline?
Permanent installation of containerised generator sets are not covered by this guideline. App.A provides a tabularised summary of all requirements, for ease of reference.
Does DNV accept a containerised generator set (CGS) installation?
DNV often receives customer requests for acceptance of installations involving Containerised Generator Set (CGS) arrangements. This newsletter aims to define the guidelines and requirements that clarify mainly DNV acceptance criteria for the temporary installation of a CGS.
Does a generator have to mark a hazardous waste container?
The generator must mark or label the container (s) holding the excess accumulation of hazardous waste with the date the excess amount began accumulating. (7) All satellite accumulation areas operated by a small quantity generator must meet the preparedness and prevention regulations of § 262.16 (b) (8) and emergency procedures at § 262.16 (b) (9).
